About

Mission

The mission of the Butte College Roadrunner is to fairly and accurately depict the issues, opinions, and events that impact our readers here in Butte and Glenn counties. We are a publication of student journalists learning our craft while simultaneously informing the Butte College community. We strive to seek truth, act independently, and treat our subject matter with dignity, respect, and honesty. Our writers do their best to remain impartial, take responsibility for our work and strive to have a clear understanding of all the stories that we choose to share.

Advisor Statement: How We Use AI Chat Tools

Kelly Fredericks, Faculty Advisor

The writers for this paper originally wanted an AI-free zone.
After much deliberation, and acknowledging that writers use Grammarly, the team decided to use ChatGPT solely for copy editing in line with the Associated Press Stylebook. Suggestions from GPT at the sentence level were discarded; only surface-level corrections, such as capitalization and conventions for dates and numbers, were kept. All other aspects, including content and revision, are entirely human-produced. Each writer takes full responsibility for their work.
