“What in the actual f*@k is going on?!”
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is no stranger to eyebrow-raising headlines. Lately, they’ve come with a macabre twist: dead animals. What he treats as a personal habit has spilled to the public, morphing into an unlikely political storyline.

Baby Bear Backlash

In 2024, RFK Jr. admitted to dumping a deceased bear cub in the middle of New York’s Central Park, in an attempt to make it appear as a traffic accident. The explanation only sharpened the obvious question: why stage something like that at all?
Kennedy, a self described brain worm survivor, confessed to this morbid incident during an interview with Roseann Barr.
“I pulled over and I picked up the bear and put him in the back of my van, because I was gonna skin the bear,”
“It was in very good condition and I was gonna put the meat in my refrigerator.”
– RFK. Jr.
In 2024, he claimed to The New Yorker that perhaps that was where he got got his “brain worm.” That leaves the lingering question: has it grown in size or simply gotten more comfortable?
Meanwhile, many wildlife advocacy groups continue their efforts to protect vulnerable animals, including bears. Organizations like, For The Love of Bears, are focused on protecting animals in their natural enviornments. Want to learn more? Visit their website, get involved and help save a bear or two.

Recent Raccoon Read
Kennedy’s recent run of controversies has taken an especially odd turn, thanks to a resurfaced journal entry describing how he removed a dead raccoon’s genitals “to study later” while on a family vacation. He went on to describe how the experience made him think about how “weird” his family was, an observation as strange as the act itself.
Who exactly reads that back and thinks, “Yeah, this is totally normal”?
Behind the mask, raccoons are doing dirty work for the ecosystem, spreading seeds through their droppings and keeping pesky insects and small rodents under control. The Charles N. Gordon Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is an organization known for helping these resilient, ring-tailed critters.

Feeding Mashed Mice & Chicks to His Pet Hawks

Yes, you read that right. Kennedy once told his cousin, Caroline Kennedy, that he blended baby mice and baby chicks in a blender to feed his pet hawks. Pet Hawks.
Which naturally raises the question: who in the world actually owns a hawk as a pet, and is that even legal?
According to the California Hawking Club (yes, that’s real) hawks can legally be owned in California, but only with proper permit from the California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife.
For anyone who happens to cross paths with in orphaned, injured or sick wild animal, including small critters or birds of prey (like hawks), the move is simple: contact Bidwell Wildlife Rehabilitation. A Chico resident shared their personal experience with a Roadrunner Newspaper editor, recalling a backyard encounter with a baby possum.
“I contacted the Chico Animal Shelter, and they referred me to BWR. I filled out a form online, and within an hour, someone got back to me. The possum was safe and on his way.”
The resident praised the group’s quick response and careful handling. If you’d like to volunteer or gain more knowledge about this wildlife group, please go click here.
Whale of a “Tail”

Another bizarre chapter in Kennedy’s past involves a washed-up whale in Hyannis Port. In a 2012 account, his daughter described a 1994 incident in which he used a chainsaw to remove the whale’s head and strapped it to the car with bungee cords.
The smell, she said, was unforgettable. Every bump in the road brought more “whale juice” seeping out, a detail that stuck with her long after the trip ended. It raises the question: would anyone forget ‘whale juice’ leaking through a van window on a five-hour drive home from the beach?
By her account, all signs point to no.

Did He Really BBQ a Goat, or a Dog?

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., husband of Cheryl Hines, is pushing back on online claims about a resurfaced photograph showing him holding an animal carcass in his mouth. And hands.
Some social media users have suggested the animal was a dog, while Kennedy has said it was a goat, pointing to a 2010 trip to Patagonia and reiterating his account in comments shared on X, formerly Twitter, and in remarks to Vanity Fair., seen here.
The identity of the other person in the photo has not been publicly confirmed. So, is this is a case of mistaken identity, or just another reminder that some vacation photos are better left in the archives?
Care about protecting dogs, goats, genuinely animals of all kinds?
As of April, 19, 2026, there are roughly around 64 cats and 84 dogs available at the Chico Animal Shelter. What do you say, want to help save some lives today?
Animal welfare advocates and aspiring/future fosters can support local rescue efforts through the Chico Animal Shelter.and Butte Humane Society, websites. Readers can find ways to donate, available animals for adoption and fostering, volunteer work, and upcoming events, as well.
Currently, CAS does not have goats available for adoption. However, if you are looking into farm animal adoption, specifically goats, or browsing for a fun and family-friendly petting-zoo-organization; check out Two by Two Ranch.
Additional Animal Reports

Additional animal-related stories have emerged in public discussion, including references to lizards, seagulls and other types of roadkill.
But the question remains for many: what motivates interest in documenting, or engaging with animal remains in the first place?
Student Reacts Strongly to RFK Jr. Animal Confessions
“What in the actual fu@k is going on?!” said the student who requested anonymity.
“I think it’s B.S. that RFK Jr. is our nation’s health chief, and now this raccoon story? Unbelievable, but believable, given his history.“
