With 30% containment, the Park Fire has become California’s fourth largest fire, and the largest active fire burning in the United States, burning over 401,301 acres spanning four counties Butte, Tehama, Plumas, and Shasta counties since it started on July 24, 2024, near Alligator Hole in upper Bidwell Park in Chico, CA.
6,528 firefighter personnel, 45 helicopters, 539 engines, 193 dozers, 157 water tenders, 12 crews with another 111 various crews have been assigned.
Most of the fire has burned in the counties of Butte and Tehama with 52,937 acres being burned in Butte County and Tehama County 348,342 acres burned, according to the CAL-FIRE website.
Butte County has seen 428 structures destroyed and 47 damaged.
Tehama County has seen 144 structures destroyed, 5 damaged, and 272 without damage for a total of 569 structures being impacted.
Governor Gavin Newsom’s State Emergency is still in effect.

Thursday, Ronnie Dean Stout II has been arraigned and pleaded not guilty to arson with special enhancements.
The fire has even threatened certain wildlife and salmon near the Mill Creek area where they have already been threatened and townsfolks fear may become extinct the AP reports.
