According to Butte College Vice President Jessica Snelling, “Decisions made at this point in the year help to ensure that the district enters the budget development process with clear assumptions, updated revenue projections, and alignment with all of the statutory requirements.” Snelling went on to give context for the proposed fee increases (see midterm report here).

For this upcoming 2027 fiscal year, the board approved a 1% increase to non-resident tuition which increased the current $340 per unit rate to $343 per unit. There is a $46 enrollment fee added so the per unit rates combined would be $389.

The board also approved a $1 increase to the mandatory student health fee, bringing this fee from $21 per semester for all students regardless of unit load and $22 for students during the summer. There are no winter session fees.

The transportation fee per semester raised by 14.8%. Transportation fees are charged for  fall and spring semesters only; there are no transportation for winter or summer session. Starting in Fall 26, students taking six or more units, will pay $101 (from $88). Students enrolled in 1.1 to 5.9 units will receive an increase from $68 to $78.

The increase in fees will help replace 6 buses.

Student Trustee Jared Smith also attended the meeting. The student trustee attends the board meetings and reports back to the A.S. Board. His goals is to help students “feel welcome and supported in our college journey” and hopes to inform students about the resources on campus.

Board meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month in the District Board Room on the main campus from 1-3 pm. Livestream is also available.
