Hey all, my name is Juan Valencia, and this will be my first semester working for The Roadrunner. I’m originally from Hollister, CA, and just recently moved to Northern California. Some of my favorite pastimes are playing video games, such as Resident Evil 4 and Borderlands 2. I’ve also been frequenting the movie theater quite often, leaving me to always look forward to what’s coming out next.

My writing will center on taking a deep dive into campus life at Butte College and highlighting the monthly student activities. Along with having a genuine interest in going out into the world and discovering newsworthy stories that bring awareness to everything happening around. And I even love the process of researching, writing, and revising that goes into creating an article.

My AI statement:

I believe that AI generative content should not be part of news writing, as it takes away from the overall experience of creating an article. However, with this technology becoming increasingly more present in the workplace, we need to understand its role and how we could use it ethically. The only reason I would ever use AI is as a form of grammar and spelling checker, but never to create news content.
