After months of waiting, Chappell Roan fans finally have an official release date for her highly anticipated single, “The Giver,” which is set to come out on March 13 at 5 p.m. PST. Not only that, but the singer has also released a 43-second preview of the song on her YouTube channel, which can be viewed now.
The singer originally debuted the song in November of last year when she performed it on SNL. Since then, she has been hinting at the song’s release before finally starting to tease it to her fans, through a clever promotion campaign that garnered a lot of attention.
The promotion started back in February with a series of billboards placed in Nashville, Los Angeles, and New York which was done in collaboration with Spotify. One of which featured the singer dressed up as a lawyer alongside the message, “Your ex’s worst nightmare” and a number to call: “620-HOT-TO-GO”.
Upon calling the number, you are met with an automated phone menu advertising a variety of services such as a private investigator, plumber, construction, and even dental. When selecting an option clips, from the song will play.
Since then a lot of the promotion has taken place on her official Instagram, where she has been releasing promotional pictures of herself dressed up for each occupation. Announcing vinyl versions for each one alongside them. All of which were made available on her website but have since sold out.
In one post Chappell stated that this was the first country song she ever worked on and that the genre had a special place in her heart, as she was surrounded by it growing up. Saying that “The Giver” was her take on c*ntry. Fan of the genre or not, Chapell definitely has people excited for her new single.
