In their matchup against American River, Butte started out strong building a 21-10 lead heading into the second half. The Roadrunners maintained a strong lead throughout the 3rd quarter as well.
Unfortunately, the Roadrunner’s offense stalled in the 4th quarter, and the Beaver’s offense finally started to take form.
Butte’s defense gave up 14 unanswered points to American River over the course of the 4th quarter and American River tied the game 24-24 heading into overtime.
In a drive that was all Marcus Beamon, Butte looked primed to tie up the game 31-31 after a Beamon rushing touchdown.

Looking ahead, 6-1 Butte plays only one more ranked opponent in Sierra College, so there should be an easy path to the playoffs for the number 6 ranked Roadrunners.
The Roadrunners have proven to be a team to beat this season, led by a potent offense.
Much of their success can be tied to their quarterback and running back.
Quarterback Marcus Beamon currently leads the conference with a 70.5% completion percentage and 19 passing touchdowns.
Running back Takeshi Faupula is second in the conference in rushing with 588 yards and is averaging an impressive 5.6 yards per attempt.
Butte’s defense has also led the way, Austin Young is 4th in the conference in tackles with 53, and defensive back Zach Valcarcel has led the secondary exceptionally well.
Butte’s next matchup takes place on Saturday, November 2nd at Shasta where they will be looking for a rebound win.
