The UFC heavyweight division is on fire following the electric performance from Josh Hokit and the #5 ranked Curtis Blaydes at UFC 327.
It was blood, sweat, and glory as these two heavyweights shared the octagon. Every blow came with fight ending intentions as each man was left visibly injured going into the end of the first round.
The fireworks would carry all the way into the third round where Hokit would left Blaydes wobbled through out numerous exchanges, ultimately Curtis found himself unable to deal with hand speed of the former 49ers fullback with all three judges scoring there bout 29-28 in favor of Hokit.
Many fans may despise the antics and alter-egos Hokit so often leans into during his pre-fight bouts, but no longer will they doubt his abilities as a fighter.
Following his performance the UFC made two breaking news announcements, the first being that Hokit would facing off against the #9 ranked Derrick Lewis at the up and coming UFC Freedom 250 event which will be taking place on July, 4, 2026 on the front lawn of the White House. The bout was added to card at the last minute after current President Donald Trump phoned up Dana White and requested to see Lewis preform on the card as per the cage side announcers at the event.
It was also announced that the UFC had signed the up and coming MMA prospect and Olympic wrestler Gabel Stevenson to the promotion, his debut is set for the UFC 329 card on July, 11, 2026. The announcement came as to no surprise to anyone who has been following the combat sports world over the recent months. Gabel has been training under the wing of Jon Jones, a man who many fans refer to as the greatest of all time.
Stevenson will be coasting into the event on a three fight win streak and will be looking to make a statement that will keep the rest of the heavyweight division on notice.
