On Nov. 21, the Roadrunner Hub held a “Thanksgiving Mug Giveaway,” inviting Butte College students to drop by their main center for a hot beverage in free reusable mugs.
Just in time for Thanksgiving, students that visited the Roadrunner Hub were offered a chance to pick out a plastic mug of their choice and make themselves something to drink from a wide selection of tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. Prepared lunch wraps were also catered from Dining Services to be enjoyed with their drink.
Students were encouraged to write down something they’re thankful for and post it on their windows to create a nice collage of notes. Stacks of books were also laid out on the counter near the front entrance, all of which were free to take home.
According to Nicole Sakurada, the Admin Secretary of Grants, several students visited the Roadrunner Hub’s food pantry during their classroom presentations and participated in the giveaway event. Along with other students that dropped in for the festivities to hang out in the warm and cozy environment.
When asked about her drink of choice, Sakurada mentioned another student’s suggestion of “making the Keurig coffee, but with a hot chocolate packet inside,” mixing them together for a nice mocha on such a cold and rainy day.
In closing, Roadrunner Hub’s “Thanksgiving Mug Giveaway” was a wonderful event for Butte College students to enjoy a hot drink and be thankful for what’s important to them.
