Just when you thought last year was the ceiling for women’s basketball at Butte College, this year’s Lady Roadrunners broke right through and set a new standard. This year’s Lady Roadrunners are incredible. Their season has been nothing short of special, and the team has been masterful at almost every aspect of the game.

Last season, the Lady Roadrunners had immense talent. They finished #1 in the state with a record of 24-3 during the regular season (which set a Butte College record) and went on to win the league championship for the third straight year. The team made it all the way to the state championship game but unfortunately fell short.

All of these high-level wins have never been done in Butte women’s basketball history, but this year’s team may go on to shatter all of those records.

They currently sit with a 24-1 record and have been the undisputed #1 ranked team in the state all season.

The offensive talent is unprecedented, scoring over 80 points 12 times, and over 100 points 5 times in regular season games, with three remaining games left before the playoffs. Consistently high scoring games are not common in women’s or men’s college basketball.

Nobody has been able to slow this team down. Another league championship is pretty much a guarantee, and the state championship is on the mind of every player and coach.

Head Coach Tyler Newton and his staff have done an incredible job elevating the team to what they are now. This is a team that gives opposing players and coaches nightmares the night before playing.

The Lady Roadrunners deserve respect and recognition heading into the playoffs, and I highly encourage you to attend a game. This team is extremely fun to watch and will have you on your feet all game.
