On October 3, 2024, KSI released his latest hit single titled “Thick of It.”

The song, which came about as a part of the British influencer’s journey towards a third studio album, had the collaboration of American rapper Trippie Redd, and discusses KSI’s personal journey, ambitions, and achievements.

Since its release, the single has hit humongous commercial success, with its music video hitting over 15 million views in just 8 days.

However, going viral doesn’t mean it’s for good reasons.

KSI’s song has been receiving tremendously bad reviews, with many social media users, content creators, and celebrities alike all showing distaste for the song.

Beyond this, the song has also become a huge meme, especially on TikTok, with many people mocking the song and the video that goes along with it.

But why exactly is this song, in particular, so bad?

There are plenty of really bad songs out there, so why are people picking on KSI specifically?

Well, to understand this, one must first acknowledge that in our current day and age, anything you put out there will receive hate.

Every picture you post, every song you record, and every article you write, there will always be someone there to tell you it sucks.

What really matters is how you react to that, and above all, the thing that has brought about this shitstorm of hate to KSI’s new song the most is his reaction to that criticism. And while at first KSI said he didn’t care too much about the hate on his song, since then he has posted multiple videos and tweets showing the opposite, and by doing this, he essentially painted a big target on his back.

This isn’t to say the song isn’t bad though—to be fair, it’s horrible and it does deserve most of the hate it’s getting.

The lyrics are bad and generic, the beat is very uninspiring and the overall vibe of the song just seems like it was made by ChatGPT.

Maybe if the song had different elements, like different lyrics, a different beat, another producer, maybe even a different person performing it, then maybe it could’ve been good—but that wasn’t the case, and what we were left with was a horrible song that is going viral for all the wrong reasons.

At the end of the day, “Thick of It” is undoubtedly not the worst song ever, but even to call it mid would be a big stretch. It fails to stand out in any way, and shows that even with all the fame and resources, KSI still has a thing or two he needs to learn if he wants to be taken seriously in the music game.
