Five takes place inside the Pentagon, which is really cool. The playable characters are people from real life: John F. Kennedy, Robert McNamara, Richard Nixon, and Fidel Castro. A new wonder weapon is introduced, and it is called the “Winter’s Howl.” Hellhounds are replaced with a new enemy called “The Pentagon Thief” who spawns in to take players’ guns away and will drop a max ammo when killed.
Two new powerups are added to the game; one gives you a death machine minigun for 30 seconds with infinite ammo and instantly kills zombies no matter the round. The other new power-up is only dropped if you kill the Pentagon Thief before he takes away a gun from a player. This power-up lowers the cost of Pack-A-Punch from 5000 points to 1000 points for 30 seconds.
There are three floors in this map, and you get to another floor by using the elevator or the teleporters after the power is activated. Floor #1 is called the “Boardroom.” This is the starting room for the map. Nothing special on this floor besides the perk Quick Revive.
Floor #2 is called the “War Room.” It has two perks–Double Tap and Juggernog. There are also the DEFCON buttons; they can be activated if all five of them interact. After the power is on, you can teleport to the Pack-A-Punch room, which is called the “Panic Room.”
Floor #3 is called the “Lab.” It has the power switch, multiple perks, and mystery box locations.
For the musical easter egg, Treyarch got permission from the rapper Eminem to use his song “Won’t Back Down.” There are three red telephones around the map that need to be interacted with to get the song to play. Pretty easy activation if you want to hear the music.
It is really amazing that you can play as JFK and kill zombies in the Pentagon with Robert McNamara, Richard Nixon, and Fidel Castro. Winter’s Howl Pack-A-Punched is a good weapon—not better than the Wunder Waffle or Thundergun—but still a serviceable weapon to get to a high round. The Pentagon Thief can get annoying because he can steal your weapons, and if you don’t kill him, you lose your weapon permanently, but overall, Five is a good map; it is an 8/10 for me. The next map is “Ascension.”
