• Class officially begins Monday, August 26, 2024.

• Reading assignments are listed on the to-do calendar on Mondays; assignments are listed on Wednesdays.

• Plan to spend 6-9  hours a week.

• You don’t need to buy anything for this course.

• A “module” is a folder that holds stuff for each week.

Install the Canvas app on your phone. The Canvas by Instructure app is the mobile version of Canvas that helps you stay current with your courses anywhere you go. Download the FREE Canvas app on Android and iOS devices. Students use the app  to access their courses and groups using a mobile device. Students can submit assignments, participate in discussions, view grades, and course materials. The app also provides access to course calendars, To Do items, notifications, and Conversations messages.

When setting up the App on your device select or enter the following school information:

• Find my School: Butte College
• School Canvas URL: canvas.butte.edu or butte.instructure.com

What to expect the first week:

• Choose your time slot for the required Zoom meeting with me. I have opened our Canvas site early to give you access to the Zoom appointment schedule.
• Take a quick quiz to help me create groups.
• Mentally prepare to talk to people. There are group projects– but done differently than you are used to. Each of you will be responsible for your own part of the project. If someone in your group flakes, you will assign that task to Ai because we are moving into a world where people do their work or they are replaced by technological tools.
• Reading assignments (or you can listen to my audio recording)
• A practice genre analysis
