The Park fire has exploded in size since it started July 24, 2024, in Butte County, in upper Bidwell Park near Chico, CA.
The fire has burned over 370,237 acres, reaching four counties Butte, Tehama, Plumas, and Shasta, with a 12% containment. It has quickly become the sixth-largest fire in California’s history, and the largest active fire in the United States.
Cooler weather, higher humidity, and the wind shift have helped firefighters get containment on the Park fire.
Ronnie Stout II the man accused of pushing a car on fire into a gully in upper Bidwell Park, has been arraigned in Butte County Courthouse on Monday, July 29. Ronnie Stout II has two previous strikes for Child Molestation and Robbery causing great bodily injury.
4,876 personnel, 33 Helicopters, 434 engines, 166 dozers, 116 water tenders, and 98 crews since the last update per the CAL-FIRE website.
