Today, July 1, 2024, Butte College effectuated Randy Maday as the interim Director of Kinesiology and Athletics.
The role, which was left vacant by Melody Stockwell in April of this year, will be in good hands as Maday has an extensive background at Butte College.
Over the many years that Randy has been at Butte, he has served many roles, such as a law enforcement academy instructor, firefighter academy instructor, and kinesiology instructor, among others.
His familiarity with the school goes as far as having served multiple terms as the kinesiology department chair, the most recent of which was in the 2019-2020 academic year.
Beyond the academic jobs that Randy Maday has had at Butte College, he’s also been an assistant football coach and an offensive coordinator.
With Randy appointed as the interim director, Butte College will leave the situation at bay and will begin recruitment for a permanent athletic director in early 2025.
In a statement in the press release, college president Virginia Guleff said, “We are confident that Randy’s extensive experience and long history at Butte College make him perfectly suited to lead the department.”
The release also stated that Virginia is very thankful for “his leadership and willingness to step into this role.”
The appointment of Randy Maday as the interim Director of Kinesiology and Athletics is definitely a step in the right direction as Butte College steps into the fall semester and the future.
Maday’s extensive resume and time spent at Butte College perfectly showcase the college’s ability to cultivate homegrown talent and create leaders.
He is a very good choice to guide the department through this period of transition, ensuring the stability needed for the continuation of the college’s reputation for excellence in academics and athletics.
