On June 24, 2024, Butte County became the scene of California’s latest wildfire.
The fire, which is being referred to as the Apache Fire, broke out on Apache Road in Palermo at approximately 7:21 PM.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the blaze.
In response to the fire, multiple evacuation orders were issued. So far, these are the areas for which evacuation orders have been sent:
- BUT-PAL-865
- BUT-PAI-866
- BUT-PAL-868
- BUT-PAL-869
- BUT-PAI-884
- BUT-PAL-885
- BUT-PAI-886
Additionally, evacuation warnings are in place for:

- BUT-PAL-867-A
- BUT-PAL-868
- BUT-PAL-883

The Roadrunner’s brave photographer, Eston Conley, was on the scene of the fire today taking some pictures, but as the fire got closer and the evacuation orders came, he promptly left for a safe area.
Be like Eston and obey the authorities, because some things are more important than a story, a photo, or even a house.
