Jeepers Creepers is one of most iconic scary movies. Its eerie feel makes you cling to the edge of your seat and anticipate what’s going to happen next.
Plus, when you think of iconic horror movie songs, most list: “Living Dead Girl” by Rob Zombie, “Tiptoe Through the Tulips” by Tiny Tim, and “Jeepers Creepers” by Paul Whiteman’s Swing Wing and The Modernaires. These songs most of our childhoods.
Jeepers Creepers, released in 2001, follows a brother and sister who are college students traveling back home for spring break when they encounter a man dumping a body. As they pass by, the person notices their car and begins following them and eventually forcing them off the road.
In classic horror movie fashion, the siblings go back to investigate, not knowing that they’re about to stumble upon a horrific scene. They find a pipe that leads to an underground bunker filled with bodies. Darry convinces his sister Trish to hold him while he goes down to check out a strange noise, and shit goes left.
He quickly notices that this unground bunker is filled with dead bodies. He falls in and then escapes the pipe. Seeking help, Darry and Trish approach a sketchy diner where a woman warns them of danger as the song “Jeepers Creepers” plays in the background.
What do they do? Ignore her and approach officers, describing the horror before leading the officers back to the scene of the accident. Situations happen, and Trish and Darry are left to stop the creeper themselves.
This movie was one of the very first horror movies I watched, and it is, to this day, still creepy. The original is a classic but the remakes are absolute garbage. The series has been ruined, the but that’s a rant for another day.
The original is a 10/10 for me. It’s gory, terrifying, and suspenseful all at once! This movie is worth watching but remember to be on the look out because the creeper could be lurking.
