The Create and Connect event was held on May 19 at 11:00 a.m. at the UndocuCenter at Butte College, organized by a student assistant with the purpose of closing out the semester.
The main activity involved students creating their own phone charms, allowing them to engage in a hands-on and creative experience. Although the event was open to all Butte College students, the majority of attendees were from the UndocuCenter and CCC programs.
A student from the center, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared their experience:
“I’m having a really good time. Events like this really help me destress during finals week and give me a break from studying,” said the student.
In addition to the craft activities, the event also provided food, including tomato bisque soup and ham and cheese sandwiches.
During the same week, two additional events were also held with the goal of building community and giving students a space to relax, socialize, and take a break from their academic routines before final exams.
