When deciding what to eat for breakfast before a full day of thrifting, I had my friend Ven Johnson (they/them) decide where to go. They gave a recommendation that neither of us had yet tried, a cute little “Breakfast Company” called Deja Vu. The very first thing you see when entering the establishment is an old timey piano, which really sets the mood for this down to earth rustic feel that the place gives off.

After being escorted to our seats by an incredibly friendly waitress, we ordered coffees. I purchased a caramel blended mocha and Ven got a Chico chai latte, both with foam on top. They were as delicious as they looked, and we would both recommend them very much. Ven told me the one thing they would comment on is for the staff to do latte art to bring the presentation to the next level.

After some chatter and browsing of the menu, we each ordered very different meals. I ordered the Firebird chicken sandwich with a side of fries, and Ven got the Bam Bam waffles.

My order was crisp, fresh and delicious, and the fries were perfectly seasoned and cooked to my liking. I give the rating a 9 out of 10 because I devoured the entire plate by the end of breakfast. Ven rated their Bam Bam waffles that came with blueberry sauce, vanilla green whipped cream, blueberries on top and fruity pebbles drizzled across an absolute 8 out of 10. They told me the first bite was warm and crunchy at the same time, which was an incredible mixture.

When asking Ven a more in-depth review of the place, here is what they had to say! For the overall restaurant rating they would give it a 4.6 or 4.7 out of 5. They told me the food, the service, and the atmosphere were top notch, but the wait time held off that full 5 star. They did however acknowledge that “they do note on their menus that there is a wait because everything is freshly cooked, which is a positive and the food was worth the wait.” They were just very hungry waiting.

So overall both of us had an incredible experience here, with delicious food, friendly staff, and a rustic atmosphere, the eatery really stands out as a fun place to catch some breakfast, so in the end I would have to say that Deja Vu is most definitely worth it.
