Butte College Main Campus Bookstore was taken over by a private corporation in March. Follett, the company that now runs the bookstore, had an open house on October 29.
On the first floor in the Campus Center building, directly below the cafeteria and other the side of the new Nest, is where the bookstore is located.
Most students may not be aware of all the campus resources that are available to them, and one important resource is the bookstore.
There is Butte College merchandise for sale as well as school supplies. If you need science lab materials or Nurse Academy scrubs, the bookstore has them.
Now that the bookstore is a part of Follett, they have a bigger network that can access more books in a shorter time, including access to more used books which can be cost-friendly to a struggling college student.
You can rent the books online or at the bookstore in a painless process that will take about a minute. According to Ruxy Machal, the course material market manager, you can use tap to pay but you will need a have physical card on file.
The inventory of books at the bookstore is over 500, and faculty list required materials so the store will have the book you need for class.
The deadline to turn the book in after you have rented the book is the Friday after the final during the end of the semester.
You can rent books for $7.00–$20.00, and if you want to buy them at the end, you can simply pay the difference from rent to own, which is another cost-friendly option for college students.
The only books that aren’t able to be rented are the spinless books since it’s harder to keep track of the pages and the rings are easily broken.
Don’t forget that there are always digital books that you can get online, and most instructors offer these digital versions.
The open house was for faculty, but we still gathered a lot of information and are glad to tell you that there are options available for you as a college student.
