The most recent Board of Trustees meeting occurred on September 11, 2024, in the District Board Room at Butte College Main Campus.
Butte College’s new Student Trustee, Liam Eller, attended the meeting and provided valuable insight into the discussions. He explains that there were talks about possibly relocating the growing Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program to the Butte College Glenn Center since there is a larger population of students in the LVN program around Glenn County.
The first steps of this relocation would be enacted by moving the classroom portables from Main Campus to Glenn Center for the time being. And after the program has expanded sufficiently, a whole new specialized building would be constructed there.
Eller also noted that Butte College has seen an increase of 11% in enrollment, almost reaching the previous student count before the COVID-19 pandemic. He believes that this is great for the campus, as it will allow for clubs and programs to continue expanding with the rising student population.
With this Butte College Board of Trustees meeting wrapped up, The Roadrunner will be anticipating further information from their next meeting on October 16, 2024.
