Call Of Duty Zombies: Review #5

Kino Der Toten (Theater of the Dead) is the first map in Black Ops 1 Zombies. The theater is located in Berlin, Germany, in the 1960’s. A new gas zombie is introduced called “Nova 6 Crawlers.” This is where the zombie’s story line starts because we start getting quotes from the characters and find radios around the map explaining everything.

We know that the Nova 6 Crawlers are a failed experiment from Richtofen’s former partner because of this quote: “These must have been the failed experiments Maxis mentioned.” —Edward Richtofen.

The Wunderwaffle does not return, but a new wonder weapon called the “Thundergun” makes its first appearance in the Zombies franchise. The description of Kino Der Toten is “Battle the undead in this theatrical installment of “Zombies.” New twists and clues could uncover the final plan. It’s show time!” Kindo Der Toten was remastered in the Black Ops 3 DLC called “Chronicles.”

When teleporting back to the main map from Pack-A-Punch, there is a chance for the player to get teleported to one of four rooms: Samantha’s room (Maxis’ daughter), Samantha’s zombified room, the dentist’s office, and a conference room. Three of the rooms have a film reel that can be played in the projector when interacting with it.

Reel #1: “The test subjects have been undergoing treatment for five days with very little progress. I have been assured that, given time, the programming will take hold. (Static)” -Ludwig Maxis

Reel #2: “In the past weeks, we have made great strides in breaking through to their subconscious. I have had the projectionists make edits to the film. These changes have been very effective.” -Ludwig Maxis

Reel #3: “Subject two-six has had a breakthrough; he is responding to the treatment and following basic instructions; the violent outbursts have been greatly reduced; and given time, we feel this method of treatment will be 100 percent effective in most cases.” -Ludwig Maxis

The musical easter egg is “115‘ by Elena Siegman and Kevin Sherwood. This is probably the most popular song in the zombies’ community. You can activate this song by interacting with three rocks located on the map. One is located in the spawn room, one in the dressing room, and the other on the 2nd floor of the alley.

Kino Der Toten is a complete map for me for multiple reasons. It has a huge area in the main theater to move around in, an amazing easter egg song, nice storytelling about the Nova 6 Crawlers, and the thundergun is really good. When Pack-A-Punched the thundergun can carry you to a high round easily. Kino is a 10/10 in my opinion. The next map is called “Five.”
