With the Fall 2024 semester kicking off at Butte College, The Roadrunner team brainstormed three questions to ask their fellow main campus students.
The first question asked students to explain their choice of transportation to school, either the bus or a car. Several students cited taking the bus as their preferred method, for the benefit of saving on gas money and riding along with their friends.
On the flipside, Phedra Phillis, a member of the Alpha Chi sorority, decides to take her car to school because “Carpooling with my friends does make it easier on gas money. And makes the ride go by a little faster and fun.” And Mia Puga also prefers using her car to go to school as she can leave her house on time and listen to her own music.
Following up with an open-ended question about what they looked forward to this semester, Phedra says that the first two weeks are her favorite since she’ll be able to meet new people and recruit new girls to her sorority. Several students say that they also want to make new friends while focusing on getting through their classes.
Finally, we asked students for a quick recommendation of their favorite energy drink. Mia mentioned that Red Bull Watermelon was her choice; Phedra preferred having the regular flavor. And a few others didn’t really have any specific choice, so they listed Gatorade and Hot Chocolate as their favorite beverages instead.
When asked, Annajoy Machado says she likes drinking the Strawberry Watermelon Celsius. Fellow Roadrunner writer, Justin Stock, mentioned a rumor that it might be possible to develop a tolerance to Celsius-branded energy drinks, although it has not been scientifically proven yet.
Conducting a short survey has been a great way to get to know each other, while we get ready to start strong for the Fall 2024 semester at Butte College.
