Verrückt (Crazy/Insane) takes place inside an abandoned insane asylum in Berlin, Germany. It is the first map to include perks, traps, and multiple mystery box locations. There are two spawn locations: two players spawn on the left side of the map, and two players spawn on the right side of the map. Players make their way until they meet again at the power switch (also a new thing introduced in the Zombies franchise). Once the power is on, players can purchase perks.
This map is the second of four maps to be remastered in Black Ops 1 and 3. The zombies are now able to hit players through barricades and run at a faster speed. (Both things would be on every future map.) Verrückt’s map description is as follows: “Electroshock therapy. Chemically engineered beverages. Hordes of undead Nazis. Find the power to unite and send them back to their graves!”
Verrückt’s musical easter egg is called “Lullaby for a Deadman” by Kevin Sherwood and Elena Siegman. For people who have cod zombies, this song is a classic.
Each perk gives out a different buff to the player. Juggernog costs 2500 points and gives the player 250 health; now they can survive 4 hits from zombies instead of 2. Double Tap costs 2000 points and increases the players firing rate by 33%. Speed Cola costs 3000 points and decreases the player’s reload speed. Quick Revive costs 1500 points and revives a teammate 50% faster.
Like the previous map, Verrückt does not have an easter egg for players to complete and is purely a survival map. It is larger than Nacht Der Untoten, so there is more room to move around. Adding perks and traps makes it easier to get to high rounds, but it doesn’t take the fun away. While there were a lot of new additions to the map, it still isn’t the best map. Overall, this map is a 7.5/10 better than Nacht Der Untoten, but nothing groundbreaking just yet for the Zombies franchise. The third map I will be reviewing is Shi No Numa.
NOTE: All pictures will be from BO3 due to the older systems not having a screenshot option.
