Dear Readers,
I want to address the students who are scared and unsure during these times. With the conflict happening in the Middle East, and the slight involvement of the United States, I understand that a significant number of people here are being affected. It’s easy to get caught up in all the issues that are happening elsewhere, as my heart, and I’m sure yours too, goes out to the innocent lives being forever changed in both Israel and Palestine.
I want to gently remind you to take care of yourself during these times. I find myself getting lost in the ocean of information when conflicts erupt like this. I find that I have to pull my focus back to center. It’s easiest for me to get back to center by going for a walk, spending time with loved ones (friends or family), reading a good book, or really anything that I love to do and can focus on. Give yourself a break from the chaos and find peace away from the media. You can always come back once you’re recharged. My coach always says an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
I also wanted to wish everyone a safe and spooky Halloween. We have some wonderfully creative students here at Butte College and the Roadrunner would love to see the costumes you come up with. If you’re willing to share and would like to potentially be featured in the next edition or online, feel free to send them to our Instagram page (@thebutteroadrunner).
Also, if you plan on going out on Halloween, be aware of your surroundings. If you’re drinking, have a DD or plan to call an Uber, and don’t take anything if you don’t know what it is. Have fun; Be safe!
