“Frankie” poses for a photo at his goodbye party. Oroville,Ca. Sept, 25,2025
The Butte College Native American Center bid au revoir to their beloved head of staff, Frankie Medrano.
Student and staff alike gathered at the center to both celebrate and thank Frankie for all he had done while at the campus for the many centers in the swing space.
Those in attendance had the pleasure of hearing a very humorous goodbye speech from the man of the hour, before being treated to chicken and tri-tip which had been provided by the center itself.
When asked about how she felt about the departure of her co-worker, the now head of the center Lilly Vargas had this to say,
“Frankie leaving the Native American Center at Butte is a change. I am personally glad that he was able to help not only our Native students in higher education, but our Native community around Butte College and its service areas. The creation of this space was a step in a positive direction for us Native people in the area and it was honestly something that should’ve been a focus a long time ago. Him leaving to work for his tribe is a great thing and something I encourage Native people to try at least once; it can be beneficial to understand the needs of your own tribe and start to create change for your own people.”
On behalf of the production team and the amazing folks over at the center, we’d just like to say thank your Frankie for everything you have done for our college and the students during your time here.
